Monte Bello Chardonnay

Baked red apple, buttered popcorn, hay. But understated and pretty well balanced with bright citric acid. Very nice structure, a little oxidation from the age, but standing up quite well.

A bit too lush for me. Really toffee popcorn in flavour. Just could do with a bit more acidity and drive.

Birthday wine #1. Great chardonnay. Tropical, lush, balanced, long.

A wonderfully made wine but in the 'old' California style of strong oak. Great balance despite the age, but heavy with vanillin and oaky flavors that dominate.

Oak and Chardonnay done in a way I can appreciate.
