Considering the price, this is a beautiful example of how great the Sangiovese grape can be... Begins with that peppery, dusty sensation, opens up to a smooth, cherry, plum, with a hint of white pepper and menthol mouth coating! Delightful!

2006 bottle. Slight pepper with peel of a black cherry notes. Very slight tart finish on the *front* as opposed to the *side* of the tongue. I would guess this wine would be excellent with a good steak. At the second glass I'm tasting a slight citrus oil—think the amount of orange rind you taste in a Manhattan cocktail. Overall balanced though. Great bang for the buck ($14)
