At the Peter Lehmann dinner at the Downs Club. These notes are for the 2010 vintage. Stonewell is all about strength and power. Aromas of coffee grounds and a touch of aniseed amongst the black fruits. Not as pruney as the 2006 had recently. Much more acceptable than the ultra ripe styles of 5 plus years ago. One of the wines of the night.

Age worthy and soooo classically built up, offering a developed fruit character but still dense and wild tannins. Lofty use of oak creates a fudge-like sweetness, which I personally dislike, but quality wise it's hard to argue with anything here. Best from 2020.

2010 clear, deep ruby, clean, ripe cherries medium on the nose, lavender, chocolate, ... Smooth, medium, med tannins slow acid, chocolate / coffee, cherries, medium finish, outstanding wine .... Way to early to drink, but still amazing, would be good in another 5+ years!

Favorite so far. A bit of purple fruit but lots of spice and heft. Very complex wine, would be stunning with game-y stuff.

Magnificent Barossa Shiraz. All jam, chocolate and plums on the nose and classic but restrained palate. Not over the top. A close second to the Penfolds Magill.
