Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.

Nose has bright green apple, saline solution, distant petrol, under-ripe peach, sliced apricot, clover honey and wet flint
Palate has effervescent and tart apple juice, tart pear, under-ripe peach, green apple peel, wet limestone with solid acidity and a ever lingering sweet/salty/tart finish. A great bottle!

Nice wicked acid for a reisling. Honeycomb. Just a kiss of residual sugar but not a sweet wine. Over ripe honeydew melon. Wow.

A somewhat muted nose at this point with notes of citrus and wet stone. Juicy and quite dry on the palate with lots of minerality. Much dryer on the palate than the 2014 vintage. Light, juicy flavors of lemon, lime and a touch of peach lead to big, bright acidity and lots of crunchy wet stone and slate notes. The finish is long and very crisp with lots of bright acidity. Great sushi pairing for the evening.

Sweeter than expected. Probably paired it wrong. Might work well with something spicy.

Peter Lauer "Barrel X" from the excellent 2015 vintage...elegant, precise, tense with chipped rock and chalk minerality, loads of juicy lime, sweet ruby grapefruit, and tart apples, with pitch perfect acidity. A steal at about $20, this crushed it with seared scallops. #peterlauer #riesling #saar #mosel

Great value on this wine. Good acidity, bright fruit,. Though not bone dry this is not particularly sweet and really the residual sugar only shows against certain foods.
