Phoenix Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

A wine meant to be drunk young ish for sure.

Light nose of black currant

Ripe blackberry, lady grey tea, horehound and other like roots, thicker body, yet somehow not as rounded as it should be.
An okay wine for first night.

Gave this two hours to open open before pairing with beef tenderloin with mushrooms and a mustard sauce. Full and ripe with berries, cassis, and a faint tannic grip. Not complex and the finish was a bit short, but tasted good none the less.

Points for sheer complexity even if not my style. Loads of bell pepper, eucalyptus, bay leaf, pencil shavings, and blackberries. Needs time or rich food. It’s a lot of wine for $25.

Dramatic label. Underwhelming wine. Soft and lacking structure or much interest
