A Collection of great Australian Reds - Christmas break up of the Tennis Group. This was the wine I brought. I forgot to say all these wines were tasted blind. Only the owner of the wine knew the identity. This was a standout thanks to the vintage with a long life ahead of it. HH has a drinking window through to 2040. As well as the savoury liquorice accents like the 2007, this had plenty of red and black fruits. That was my 3rd of 6 - 3 to go. Next in a couple of years if I have the willpower.

Notes of mulberry - even without new oak it somehow has the Penfolds DNA of chocolate malt. Brambley savoury notes. Great to have a Penfolds red with no new oak just for a change. Still with a long future as with 90% of Penfolds Reds. Amazing to think that decades ago Penfolds released Grange and St. Henri at the same price.

A tremendous bottle. Inky dark and extracted but somehow light on its feet. Graceful tannin, dark fruit in layers, and a finish that lasts minutes.

2005 vintage - drinking superbly at 10 years - plenty of life ahead of it, but why wait?

Big and Barossan. Great nose. Lots of structure. Restrained fruit. Just what the doctor ordered.

This bottle was a bit past it's prime. Still decent but on the downslope.
