See 2 previous notes on Delectable. Much the same now. Very plummy on nose and palate. Meaty notes on the nose. Plum and raspberry on the palate. An excellent blend for Penfolds from their vast resources. Amazing the influence of the Mourvèdre for only being 11%. Shiraz is 89%. Paid $30 per bottle for this in 2016. Cheap for a Penfolds red.

Even though I’m a life long buyer and drinker of Penfolds I’ve had very little experience with Bin 2 which is a Shiraz Mourvèdre blend (89%/11%). Dusty Black cherry notes with a little raspberry. These aromatics carry through to the medium plus bodied palate finishing with grainy tannins. A little astringency at the end, probably because of its youth (in Penfolds terms at least). Could easily go for another 5 years but nothing wrong with drinking one now. Had another bottle 48 weeks later on 30th March 2022 with similar notes.

Earthiness, subtle fruit. Nice finish. Went great with the ribeye.
