Griffin's Lair Sonoma Coast Syrah

14’s are tasting great…actually thought this one might show more- maybe needs more age.

This bottle gushes out flavors like a Viking gushes blood on a battlefield.

Dark sanguine hues set the tone for iron rich aromas featuring tar, bacon grease, dark chocolate and old leather. As it opens up there are some pomegranate and vanilla cola flavors to compliment pepper, espresso, and blood. Big structure but still smooth.

Heavy metal Syrah right here.

Stoic wine. Reductive nose at first. Opens up to smoldering wood and wild blackberry. Give this sucker 2 hrs of air.

Outstanding! Initially bacon and baking soda nose that gradually moves to pomegranate and blackberry profiles - but it takes a few hours. This is perfect with some venison and heavier game meats. Heavy mouth feel and acidity, but welcoming complexity. Like a deep, long and thought provoking conversation with an old friend. Carrying finish. Well done.

Dark red cherry and underripe plums. More refined than the Castelli Knight.

Big purple monster with grippy tannins. Blackberry and blueberry, still a lot of acid
