Sometimes you pop Barolo the moment it hits the shelves, and there’s a brief window where it’s open for business. Fruit fleshed out with lilac, cinnamon and touch clove. It closes with more air, but you still get it all in the long finish.

2017: initially subdued nose with dry assertive tannins. As it opened, palate softened and became quite approachable given its youth. Red fruits abound both ripe and stewed. The finish is surprisingly long! Great value ($45 at Eataly). Will be really nice in 2-5 years.
