I love the way '09 opens doors that would ordinarily be shut. Beautiful, dusty ripe tannins, sour cherry, roses and fennel & balanced acidity. At the very beginning of its drinking window.

Nose was a bit closed with some floral notes and red fruit with spices. The palate was rounded and deep with distinctive red sour cherries and perhaps basil.

I think this is showing quite splendidly now. The fruit is well rounded and fresh, balanced by acidity and really expands in the mid palate. While the finish is good, for me this is all about the middle. Very pretty brown-tinge to the red color, this a medium bodied wine. There are notes of cherry, mint/herbs and strawberry on the nose. The palate just bursts open seamlessly with the red fruits, cherry most notably, and takes you through to the finish. A lovely wine at a reasonable price.
