Apr 1st, 2020Yet another vintage - 2017. Pale yellow white, excellent clarity. Floral, piney and vanilla notes in nose. Melon-cantaloupe, pineapple and stone fruit flavors, wow. Slight-to-moderate skin astringency on front of tongue in finish with citric-orange-grapefruit rind and pineapple flavors and tartness in the aftertaste. Dryish, good acidity, rounded mouthfeel. A refreshing fruity Riesling so typically well done here, though I’m hopeful the astringency moderates with a bit more aeration. After one hour, astringency moderated, and lactic character in finish emerges. Wait an hour on this one if you can.
