Very deep Ruby red, with aromas of dark fruit and sweet spice. On the palate, the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, shows ripe dark fruit, blackberries and plums with a touch of oak, smoke and toast. The wine spent 16 months in 40% new French and American oak. Full-bodied, nice balance with integrated tannins. Tasting well now.

Surprisingly ordinary, if not an outright disappointment, for my first experience with Cakebread’s Washington venture. The fruit is blunted, like a deadened tennis ball... there’s no pop or verve or tension. Green peppercorns, tobacco, chocolate, spice and earth point to what could have been, but the fruit falls flat and the raw edge leaves it flabby.

A nice blend. Not Red Mountain, but nice black berries, plum, chocolate notes. Cab Franc popped through.

Dark fruit with a strong red licorice palate. Slightly young and tight, perhaps a few more years and this becomes a gem.

New Cakebread project. If tasted blind I'd never guess Washington State. Really polished with no depth.
