Poured into a decanter about two hours before service; no formal notes. The 2018 Montevertine is a bit of a show-off with bright, flashy ripened cherries, porchini, red flowers, dusty earth and orange peel. Significant structure should allow for a hearty life. The finish is full of class. This has to be the aspiration of every Chianti Classico.

Absolutely delicious. Last had nearly a year ago. More time wouldn’t hurt. But with a wonderful piedmontese breed ribeye - perfect.

Obviously young, but we wanted to try one and so it goes. Decanted 4 hours which was definitely needed. Paired with a beef and pork ragu slow simmered for most of the day. Aromatically fills the room. So seamless with incredible balanced but precise acid. Beautiful dark red fruits with some good earth as well. Very long finish. Really a wonderful wine, very happy to have it.

The 2018 of this is supposed to be more refined and precise than others - haven’t had the other vintages, but this fits that bill. May look for some more to put away for 3-5 years. Calling this a super Tuscan is a bit silly, this is 90% Sangiovese.
