Fresh, bright palate with medium tannins, refreshing acidity, and a softness true to Bordeaux wines. Black Fruits, cedar, graphite, and stone.

The claret is a classic, with the 2019 mainline hitting a home run as usual. The bright berry notes are combined with a beautiful full body that leaves you wanting more!

The 2015 claret is a favorite, approachable and easily paired wine. Definitely has some more years before peak drinkability. Bramble fruit, black tea, and a hint of black pepper. Smooth tannins and nicely balanced acid on the palate.

The 2015 nose is so incredibly inviting and it totally follows through on the palette, bursting with berries. Superb accompaniment to carne asada steak or adamant pasta with red peppers and ewephoria cheese.

The 2014 is a close rival to the 2017, perhaps a little sharper and not quite as fragrant as the 2017 though GREAT with any food choice. Smooth, fruity, scrumptious.

Enjoying a bit of a vertical and the 17 is rocking it right now. Balanced, with blackberry and currants dominating on the palette. Tasting superbly right now, by itself or accompanying any food.

2015 Matthews Claret is rich in spices, blackberries, and extremely smooth in texture. I never buy just one bottle. I keep a vertical of the claret wines in my cellar and add additional bottles each year.
