Pretty darn tasty! The flavors of dark fruit and black licorice were followed by leather and mushroom. The tannins were very grippy and intense. Went well with Italian red sauce pasta and stuffed mushrooms. Vintage 2012, drank June 2018.

Lots to love about this wine, starting with the name, Sbirolo, which refers to an old but pleasantly eccentric person in Piemontese dialect. The wine itself is juicy and smoother than most Langhe Nebbiolo, pretty and bodacious. Terrific value, too!
