Marc Sorrel
Le Gréal Hermitage Syrah
Wow, nearly one year later another pristine, non-cork-tainted, bottle of this outstanding 35-year-old Hermitage — outstanding fruit which is still surprisingly youthful, complex, long finish, just an amazing wine that seems 10 more years from maturity (good cork dependent), great juice!!!

Apr 7th, 2024So, I finally won the cork lottery on one of these 1988-1990 Sorrel Le Greal Hermitage — lovely older Hermitage, dried redfruits, still showing a bit of a firm structure with good acidity, long, lingering finish, very nice Hermitage!!

Apr 14th, 2023Cardboard initially, but it now clearly appears to be another (partially) corked bottle of Le Greal (I’ve had multiple corked bottles of 1988, 1989 and 1990 from my cellar of this exact wine, so be forewarned if you see one of these for sale), still dark, youthful color, massive dark fruits and youthful structure underneath, it just breaks my heart to lose another potentially great Hermitage to a crappy cork!!
