Les Chais du Vieux Bourg
Côtes du Jura Savagnin

This is fantastic stuff! Honey colored. Honeysuckle immediately hits the nose, dried apricot, marzipan, soaked honey bread, Greece honey cheese. Did I mention honey!? Acidity here is more about enhancing the nose and making the palate want more. Ripe light caramel green apple, more honeysuckle, white flowers, pound cake, and salinity that hits on the back end. The finish is long and mouth coating. I’m left salivating for more. I’d love to see how this develops in a few years+.

Very good. Not as lean as I remembered savagnins being in the past. This one has fat lemon cream custard flavors, some honey with a long finish and some good tannins. The aromas are lemons, red apple flesh, toast, iodine, clear water minerals and fresh herbs like maybe dill. A bit flabbier than I’d like it to be, but I’m happy.
