Black plum, plums, black licorice, raspberries ,cooked strawberries, light spices, a touch of light tar, silky dusty tannins, good acidity and finish. Also, went well with the braised short ribs.

Salted caramel nose. Resolved blackberries, dark cherries, mulberries, cooked black plum, soft leather, sweet dark earth, star anise, light cinnamon salted milk chocolate, super elegant with a very long finish. Paired well with steak, lamb and duck due to it's long bottle evolution. Drink now as it's hit it's stride.

2001 vintage. Tannins have mellowed out. Smooth, long finish. Bit of cocoa, nutmeg, dark fruit, nice and complex!

The medium ruby-red '01 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is still showing noteworthy aromas of blackberry, plum, black tea, leather and pencil lead. Dark fruit flavors with sweet nutty oak undertones in the mouth. Smooth fully-resolved tannins on the lingering finish with signature JPV cedar notes.
