Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2022 “Le Cros Martin” (which is a lieu dit that sits just below Champans) pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of strawberry, raspberry, red flowers, sous bois, gentle cool and warm spices and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A lovely Volnay from a Pommard producer I had not tried before. Drink now through 2037.
