Blend of two varietals from Italy (Friuli and Alto Adige) rarely grown in US. 37 cases made. Ruby red, very good clarity, medium pigment extraction. Red fruit aromas, flavors of pomegranate, tart cherry, black currant and a touch of plum, not quite cola. Lots of tannins, seed and skin, so decant at least one hour, preferably longer. Good body, lighter style in terms of alcohol, nice balance of fruit, tannins and acid. Props to the winemaking team at Illahe for staying experimental and testing new varieties’ adaptability to growing conditions in Oregon.
