This was a fun wine to drink with our antipasta prior to dinner. The cork was a real chore to pull out but my patience was rewarded and it came out intact. Short decant (under and hour)...and I’m really not sure if a longer one would have really benefitted this bottle which was very good but seems to be on a slow decline. The color is still very much intact and quite dark, actually. Mushrooms, cherries, leather, earth...in that order. Tannins have mostly integrated; still there is structure to keep this together for several years. This could potentially see it’s 20th birthday but I would probably drink’em up before then.

This is a big and thick bruiser. Will see how it evolves in glass. The fruit is there though. Really came together with spaghetti and meatballs. Great food wine.
