Californio Hyde Vineyard Syrah

Bíter chocolate, fine nose of dark fruit

Never been disappointed with this bottling in any vintage. California fruit & power, French structure & earthen profile.

Comparisons to Lillian '06. Unique nose - something I can't place. Floral, or mom-black fruit. Really lovely. A bit more acidic than Lillian. Good balance with fruit and pepper. Maybe plum?

Slightly medicinal but with bright cherry and oak barrels in a vineyard cellar all on the nose. Cherry and medium astringency. Update after a day open: nose has smoke from campfire and graham crackers. There is some sort of machine shop smell that I can't put my finger on. It is still quite astringent and spicy with dark red fruit.

Ripe but elegant medium-full bodied Carneros Syrah. Showing some age but still has a good 5 years left before it hits its peak. Bacon, blood, and dark red fruits on the palate.

Christmas dinner (w/another one to come tomorrow) wine. Beautifully opulent with spice & floral aromatics. Blue fruit & good acid with silky tannins. Classy Syrah showing beautifully with Wellington. Merry Christmas!

Delicious earthiness. Heavy astringent tannins early out of the bottle, will wait to see how it opens up. Delicious hearty wine.

Dark dark chocolate, cherry, black current, blackberry. More fruity.

Very fruit forward. Nicely balanced for Syrah. To have with food not alone.
