Last night I had the pleasure of being with close friends for an evening of reminiscing and life long friendship. We got to open the 2010 Goldschmidt Vineyards Single Vineyard Yoeman Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
On the nose was black cherry, blackberry, plum, lack currant, cassis, nutmeg, violets, dark chocolate, vanilla, smokey oak and a good dose of rich earth.
On the palate was rich black cherry, sumptuous blackberry, black plum, tobacco, cassis, chocolate, spice, smokey oak and rich dusty soil.
The wine is full bodied with a silky smooth mouth feel with medium acidity and medium to plus smooth fine tannins that lead right to a long enjoyable finish. This wine made the evening even that more enjoyable and just goes to show that wine can accentuate what was already a beautiful evening of friendship. Have a great week and please be safe. Minty-eucalyptus, smoked green chiles (in a good way) and fatty bbq smoke on the nose. Elegant mouthfeel with plum, peach skin and dark cherry notes. Finish is cocoa and light tobacco with a hint of soy sauce. Needs some time to fully integrate.
