Another lovely and lively California sparkler from a vertical tasting of Gloria Ferrer's Royal Cuvée Bruts. The 2001 is as charming as the other vintages I've tried, though it shows an evolution in the house's style—a trend toward a lighter, slightly softer, fruitier bubbly. It's delicate and focused, like Chantilly lace, inlaid with traces of mineral veins that hem in notes of anise, blackberry and brioche held aloft by a fine, frothy mousse. 12.9% | ABV Sample
