2006 vintage. Pale ruby hue - some bricking around the rim. After an hour decant. On the nose, medium concentration. Still youthful. Sour cherry, violet and typical tar like aromas. Marzipan and almond paste. Some savoury spice. No obvious oak. Delicate. On the palate, searing acidity - some astringency - powerful tannins, medium plus concentration and finish. Not the best Rinaldi by any means. Slightly lacking in power. More on the delicate side of the scale. NB: with 90 minutes in the glass, the wine is gaining weight and complexity. I am upping the score accordingly.
