Normally, Dornfelder should be consumed within a couple years of release. A good one is a delightful, easy drinking, fresh, fruity quaffer with no pretensions of greatness or ageworthiness, and should not be expensive. This 11 year old Georg Albrecht Schneider last bottle, found in my cellar, was surprisingly fresh and thoroughly enjoyable, helped in part no doubt by it’s screwcap closure.
