Aug 16th, 2016We tasted a lot of assyrtiko on santorini and everyone called their wines age worthy but it was impossible to find aged bottles. We found this bottle at the grocery store in Mykonos (which had a DJ in it 🤣). It’s got a few years in bottle. My guess is that there are better producers on santorini, but this is still a cool bottle to taste. Age has given this some of the oily gasoline thing, a golden hue, some oxidation for sure, candied citrus. Not having reference points, it’s hard to say if this could have aged further. I liked tasting this slightly aged bottle, curious to try more aged assyrtiko, especially some of the more prized bottles.
