1.5L bottle served side-by-side to the Pian Del Ciampolo. Splash decanted and returned to the bottle prior to serving. This was obviously the more modern of the two with darker fruit and pronounced baking spices. More round and full than the PdC. Yet, this was divine and a fantastic comparison...so much fun actually. Anyone that might balk at the modernity would be making a serious error. This is an honest wine that is beautifully made. Drink now or over the next ten years.

Checking in on this bottle tonight, it's been a little over three years (37 mo) since our last taste. It will be paired with a beautiful Bolognese sauce which has been gently cooking for most of the day. I'm not sure which I'm more excited for tonight. 🍷🍝

Color is intense purple, with red-brown edges, almost too dark to see through.

Nose has plum/fig jam, under-ripe cherry, aroma of recently picked strawberry, muddy Earth and light toasted barrel.

Palate is full of dark fruits, plum, black cherry, blackberry, prune, hint of mocha and faint red pepper. Tannins are softening but still present, not obtruse. We're saving most of this for tomorrow, not sure it'll be much more accessible this evening, notes will be updated.

24hr Update: Earthy plum and black cherry make a bold show on the nose. Palate is still consistent with earlier notes, but the red pepper note has faded fully away. Great bottle, likely not to make it another day.

Piccolo frutto fresco di colore rosso condito da pungenze sempre misurate di spezie e smaltate. Al palato colpisce la completezza del vino in tutte le sue componenti.
