Hawkes Bay Verdelho

A curio from New Zealand, apparently Esk Valley are the only people to have planted Verdelho in the country. This bottle was so-so, I've had better bottles of this before, perhaps this was a recent shipment that needs time to settle? Not as much aromatics this time around.

Unusual grape variety for a Kiwi wine, this Esk Valley Verdelho is very good indeed. Quite a rich wine with tropical fruit flavours nicely balanced by some acidity and a herbaceous finish. Good food wine.
