The ratings this wine gets are clear evidence that people want their wine that they spent good money on to be good. This one, simply, is not. Let it breathe, they say. A bit of barnyard funk, they say. I’m willing to admit this appeals to *someone*, but I hate it. Completely Brett and undrinkable. “Breathing” up to 24 hours doesn’t help. Still smells like horse poop. All Brett. No redeeming qualities. I was going to save it for cooking, but why ruin good food?

As others have mentioned, give this Migan some time to breathe: there’s some barnyard funk on the nose (a bit of Brett?), coupled with tomato leaf. But lovely rhubarb, blood orange, raspberries on the palate. Terrific with seafood.

Pale magenta; medium plus intensity aromas of delicate red fruits and earthy mushrooms, red currant, cranberry, wet leaves, funk; dry, medium acid, medium minus tannins, medium alcohol, light bodied, medium plus intensity flavors of perfumed red fruits and mushroomy wet earth; medium finish, very complex, well balanced and elegant, outstanding

Give this time to open up or decant, as it can be very funky on the nose.

Really tasty stuff from the Canary Islands, nose reminded me of an aged Côte Rotie. Peppers and spiced meats. @Viticole Wine Club
