Holy wow this is drinking good right now. Just popped it open before dinner, thought I might wash down some food with this but no... So delicious on its own I just want to swirl, sniff, sip and savor.
Comes across as a very rustic wine. Notes of medicinal roots and leather along with dried cherry fruit. Over time in the glass it evolved into a nice sweet vanilla bean.
Rich caramel-coated purple fruits pervade on the palate. A touch of smokiness along with cola and sassafrass carry through to a long gently spicy finish.
All aspects of this wine are in outstanding balance and the structural components are flawlessly integrated. It offers a silky, powdery texture that has me swooning. Bravo Elk Cove!
