Fantastic wine from monforte d'alba. Powerful wine from the get go with dark cherry notes, licorice, cedar and hints of rose. As it evolved throughout the decanting process it started to yield more dried roses, leather, earthiness and a sweet and tangy taste. Great wine initially in all aspects but the finish left more to desire. Unlike other barolos, the finish was dull but overall it was an enjoyable wine from the cru of gavarini chiniera
