Champans Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Full red. Aromas of dark cherry, smoky minerals and sexy soil tones. Very sweet and broad on entry, then suave and nicely delineated in the mid-palate, displaying complex saline soil tones and cherry and dark berry fruit flavors. This savory Volnay finishes with building toothcoating tannins and terrific chocolatey length. Needs time, but this wine strikes me as more harmonious than the excellent 2013 version was at the same stage. (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2017)

Hard to rate as its so young and needs 10 years easy...lots of great potential to over up the ratings scale...that goes for all 3 2014 d'Angerville rated here from @La Paulée

Love this wine. Red fruits, dark cherry. Wet stone. Very round on the finish. More open than the bottle I popped 6 months ago, but holding more back..plenty of development to come.

Same as previous notes. Always a good treat.

Very nice. Amazing nose of berries and spice. Dark cherries, saline. Tannins still hiding some of the fruit.

Dark cherries. Spices. Silky tannins and long finish. This is very good now with a decant, but excited to see a few more bottles develop.

Classic and Elegant.

Very pretty wine. The most Volnay—esque of the bunch. Good spot right now but likely will only get better
