Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru Pinot Noir

The 2001 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is consistent with the bottle tasted in 2018. It leaps from the glass with red fruit, orange blossom and Earl Grey, sprightly though not intense. It is imbued with Christophe Roumier's unerring sense of transparency. The palate is precise and focused, sculpted with the finest chisel in the box, long and tender with exuberant Pinoté on the finish. Just delicious. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune. Beautiful nose but still restrained.... this will only get better with time. Lots of depth lurking and waiting to celebrate out

Huge. Almost young Barolo in character. Needs time but opened up over time and was quite nice. Decant.

Demanding more time!

Big wine with tons of blue fruit and a serious backbone. Young but still showing exceptionally well. Red of the night. Needed several hours to really open up.

dark blue fruits, great density but balanced, still young. Drinks well.

Shut down at the moment. Should be great with more time. Try again in 8-10 years.

Such a treat. We had the 2001 (didn’t get a picture of the bottle). Has that perfect combination sweet fruit and that sexy spiciness of a great Pinot.
