Under the radar from Provence, a unique cepage of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon (50% each). The geeks know this one, but this was my first. Aged 24 months in foudre and barrel aging, the purity of the fruit and the transparency of terroir are elevated. The acidity is fresh and helps keep the wine youthful with medium to firm high grain tannin. The Cabernet really comes through in the nose with cassis and currants, with Syrah bringing violets and some pepper spice, secondary notes of cedar and black tea. The palate gets a firm does of acidity and tannin. The palate still comes off a little tight and austere so a few more years to mellow the tannins might be the call here.

2004 vintage. Iodine rich and earthy. Well balanced and slightly favoring the Cabernet portion of the blend on the profile. Medium bodied with a modest finish. Unique and classic. Great fun.
