Definitely an earthy, mature, savory wine from the Heights Natural Wine shop in Houston. Tobacco, cherry pit, Coco nibs, tar, bitter almond, strawberry, decomposing leaves, a definite sanguine quality. Bit of cigarette smoke on the finish.

Must be Grenache heavy-- this reminds me of a traditional rioja with 10+ years on it.

This wine is not lacking in complexity. Moderate but enduring tannins and lively acidity, though I wish there was a bit more fruit that tasted as lively as the acidity still feels. Glad I bought it, but it definitely wasn't a party starter at the VanMeurers-- too geeky and funky.

This wine shines after some air. Blackberries, raspberries, black pepper, dried and fresh herbs, coffee grounds and a funky finish.
