Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend

A lovely tarry note initially amongst the red fruits. On the medium weight palate sweet and savoury red fruits. Love CdP from a good year like this one. 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Cinsault and the remaining 5% split between Muscardin, Counoise and Vaccarese. Completely destemmed and fruit driven. Soft pliant tannins.

Reasonably ripe CdP, even for a big vintage. Nose isn’t forthcoming, but plush and inviting on the mid. Red briar fruit without great complexity, but plush and seductive. Young, but open for business.

Sampled 3/2018 at ProWein (Germany).

Vibrant red color with no tell tale signs of bricking around the edge. Grenadine, red raspberry aromas mixed with a touch of anise and spices. Good balance; soft, silky tannins owing to the high proportion of Grenache. Love this producer.

Some depth but tannins come in too late. Enjoyed but I’ve had better for a lower price
