La Sarrasine Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Comes off more like a southern Rhône Syrah than something from Côte-Rôtie. Ripe blackcurrant and fresh violets with a rather sleek frame. It lacks the combo of meat, spice, tapenade, and animale that you often find in this area.

Delicious wine. Dark fruit, silky tannins balanced perfectly by fine acidity.

Less than 350 cases, Guigal hermitage old clone of Syrah aka Serine with some Viognier. Lieu-dit La Viallière meaning special soils of decomposed schist and gneiss. No chemicals, natural yeasts, and Demi-muids/ new wood barrels. Ruby garnet color with aromas of bacon, cherry, rose petals while silky on the palette with some herbal notes on the finish. Medium to full body.
