Drinking a birthyear wine (2/2). In 1983 only the Nothern Rhone seemed to have produced ageworthy wines. To tick the birthyear wine box this wine was bought by Niek. Hopes where high and drinking this wine together was for sure a great intellectual pleasure alongside with a special dinner. Should you ask me to focus on the performance of the wine tastewise I would have to tell you the wine was really really fragile, dominated by earthy aromas of fungus/mushroom, but underneath the character of Syrah was still there. Nevertheless this was one of the most special bottles for me to have opened up!
