Disappointing. Muted nose even with time. Acidic but lacking depth. Perhaps I’m projecting but seems like an attempt to purposefully go underripe in order to mimic a more Burgundian feel. Lacks the aromatics and depth I would expect. Have had other bottles of Copain that were better, and this was the year that Copain really turned around stylistically - maybe Wells was still figuring it out with this one. Or I’m just projecting and it was just a poorly stored bottle.

Nov 5th, 2018A dark ruby red, the '07 Copain Pinot Noir 'Kiser "En Haut"' is a beautifully evolved effort that has blossomed perfectly. The energetic cranberry, pomegranate, lavender and forest floor scents are nose-piercing. The plush structured mouth is full of baking spice and chambord-like flavors. The acidity focuses the lengthy spice-laced finish quite well.
