Just about the best Dogliani you’re gong to find, and this vintage is incredibly fresh, expressive and powerful. Massive fruit, sturdy tannin structure and long, complex finish. Blackberry, dark cherry, violets, dark chocolate, tobacco, cedar, mint, minerals and leather. Dolcetto doesn’t get any better.

A Dolcetto di Dogliani from the Alba area. Reputable producer. This 2015 vintage probably could have done with more aging. A lot of alcohol on the nose and not incredibly dynamic.

Deep, dark black berry preserves and mascarpone. Soft, well balanced, smooth with round integrated tannins. Food wine. Hints of new world fruit, but still some subtle earthy notes. My first venture into Dogliani.
