The Echo is more pronounced and easier to decipher than a year ago. Distinctly Pauillac, showing blackcurrant, cassis, cedar, and pencil lead, with some faint secondary cocoa. Though it still has a primary feel, there's a blossoming nature about it that suggests its best is just around the corner.

A second from an average vintage is rarely something I would bother with, but turned out to be quite enjoyable. Cured meats, olives, tobacco, scorched earth, and toasted oak, with some dark plum at its core.
