Tart blackberry, mint, lavender. Loads and loads of garrigue, black pepper and mineral structure. Astonishing 42 days skin contact in addition to the usual whole cluster inclusion. Wild, feral intensity and layers of complexity. One of the best Côtes du Rhône tasted in recent memory and a real smash hit with my staff. Not often do you find cellar worthy red for under $20, but Saint Cosme brings the thunder and the value once again.

Mint, garrigue, wild herbs, jasmine, olive skin, lavendar, thyme. So savory, with greater complexity than the entry Côtes du Rhône.

Deep dark color... cracked pepper, touches of Asian spice, chocolate ganache, bruised plum and blackberry. Horse sweat and slight VA funk blows off with air. Medium weight with dark berry fruit, plus hints of tobacco on the palate. Not quite as complex as the nose. Chunky tannins are there, but fade with a modest finish. Out of a magnum. 50% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, 15% Carignan, 5% Clairette

A really nice surprise and very different from most other Cotes du Rhone I’ve enjoyed.
A negocient wine from a legendary Gigondas house, 100% Syrah from two plots in Vinsobres and Gard
Medium Ruby with Medium (+) intensity and aromas and flavours of Black Plum, stewed black cherries, roast strawberries, violet, thyme, black olive and black pepper. The wine is meaty (raw bacon), gamey and smoky with leather, tobacco and liquorice.
Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (+), soft ripe tannins, high alcohol but very well integrated, medium body, medium (+) intensity and finish.
Very good almost outstanding wine, just needs a little more depth, body and a longer finish.

My first wine. Pretty good. I enjoyed it. A bit pricey.

Very well balanced and versatile. Nice tannin but not overpowering. Savory smokiness, medium body, and lingering finish of black cherry.
