Bandol Mourvedre Blend

This wine has a direct feed to the pleasure station in my brain and it’s been too long since my last taste. The nose is seductive in its perfume, alluring crushed black cherry, ripe black raspberry/plums, game, worn leather, roasted spices, camphor, forest floor, tar, powdered sugar, tons of garrigue and a touch of exotic spice. Palate is richly textured, elegantly powerful and raw tannin, with that fine grained yet rustic edge to them. Despite the frame this carries that classic fresh acid that’s hallmark for this estate. Palate a melange of black cherry, kirsch, blood orange, and blue fruit. Black tea, medicinal herbs, creme de violets, cracked pepper, bitter cocoa and crushed rocks. Finish is lengthy, stretching out with its herbal and mineral complexity.

I could smell this wine all day. Violets, game, red fruits. So gorgeous.

Coffee, dusty tannins, spicy Mouvedre, good wine

The wine needs 5 years in a cold cellar. Like my new favorite tight end Martellus Bennett--huge but graceful. Go Pats revenge tour!

Just hitting me on all the right spots today....

Herbs de Provence, black cherry, earthy. Substantial body but yet elegant.

Pibarnon with a side of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Savory, spice, ripe red fruit with a dose of heat and fine tannins that carry and carry. This wine has loads of power. Stellar.

Muscular spiced dark fruit aromas with pepper undertones. Firm but not grippy tannins provide good structure and depth, balanced by lush dark cherry and plum notes. Manages to balance ripe fruit forwardness and a full body, likely owing to the late ripening of grapes from the provencal climate and terroir. Elegant representation of Mourvèdre at its finest- strong, spicy, but not overpowering.

Cassis rules as does this Southern Red Rhone! Heavy oak and M for gsM!
