Ancienne Cuvée Carnot Volnay Caillerets 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Five single-vineyard CA Pinots vs 5 Burgs: Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanee + three 1er Crus Beaunes. All 2005s. Rob Jensen, owner, and Sue Ryan, lead wine educator at Testarossa joined our group for the tasting. This was our top rated wine although more middle of the pack for me.

Tart, really quite bitter

Perfectly aged, rich and balanced. Happy Valentine’s Day

Cherry dominate along with other red fruit. Acid balance a tad off but very good. Other bottles have been better.

Very approachable with lots of fruit and flower on the nose. Good bit of grip and definitely more of a modern style.
