Although the Bogle family has been farming since the 1800's, it wasn't until 1968 that the father and son team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20 acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, CA. A blend of 39% Zinfandel, 38% Petite Sirah and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, ripe berry and spice aromas. On the palate dark berry flavors with pepper, oak and spice. Good balance, fine chalky tannins on medium finish ending with oaky notes.

The annual Zin-dominant red, always a decent food wine, though overpriced and overhyped (e.g. why limit the bottles one can purchase at the tasting room if there are any number of bottles available at grocery stores?!) Still above average.

Haven’t had the ‘13 in a little over a year. It’s still great but has peaked and is on the decline. Starting to lose its fruit. Drink now if you have. See my prior ‘13 tasting notes.

Really fragrant nose, floral, spicy with cloves and cardamom. A little dry out of the bottle and slightly overpowering spice and oak but after an hour this is really good, smooth and integrated but the Zinfandel is ruling the blend without being too sweet.

Bold and deep with a superbly long finish. A strong red blend that naturally coupled with our grilled lamb dinner. Delicious.

I don't care what anyone says. This is the best juice around. I'm leaving .3 for rating because I don't believe in true perfection, but this is close.

Strong fruity smell, dark fuchsia in color. Fruit forward, lots of dark berry, dark cherries, but not sweet. Low tannins. Smooth, not sharp.
