I hadn't planned on tasting and writing, but I couldn't resist opening this Torrontés (SRP $15), which immediately took me back to my trip to Argentina two years ago this month. Torrontés, the genetic hybrid of Muscat of Alexandria and Criolla, is one of my favorite wines. This is the fourth wine I've tasted from Nieto Senetiner the past couple of weeks and I love it, with its clear, sunshine-yellow color; crisp, clean mouthfeel; and the interplay of freshly-cut roses and tart citrus on the nose and palate. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this wine's freshness and acidity will brighten up most meals. This Torrontés has the best bang for the buck. (sample)
