Thursday night Rosso to go with a simple pasta dish tonight. Notes forthcoming...

Color is a very deep purple, looking like one of those wines you're going to be cautious with spillage, likely a permanent stainer.

Nose is still tight, giving up dark berry fruits and green pepper right now. (Update, vegetal/methoxypyrazine aromas have dissipated, loads of black fruits are flowing out of the glass.)

Palate is all blackberry, black cherry and sweet blueberry, tannins are quite gentle.

I'm expecting some improvement as we gain more air time tonight. BTW $12, this wine's a steal, I always love finding budget wines that really deliver!

Dark, plumy, fig, earthy. Tannins have the right presence and acidity lingers around on tue finish.

Big, bold but smooth. Long. Nice balance and acid. Merlot makes it nice and round. Incredible value.

It's ok; not nearly as Amaronesque as some would suggest. Needs quite a bit more time in the bottle, but has some potential.

Fruit forward. Cherry and warm berries on the nose, maybe some plum. Very tannic and a long taste. Needs to open. Decent value. Not very dry, mild acidity. Good with comfort food.

Plums, cherries and spice on the nose. Raisins and earthiness when first sipped with a smooth, medium tannin finish. Wish I had bought more than 1 bottle!

Wonderful and affordable ($11) red table wine. Rich, silky Merlot flavor, full-bodied but with great structure and balance. A clear winner at 2 tastings I attended.

Not good. Pruno with a pretty label.
