I thought this was younger—had the wrong vintage listed in CellarTracker. Still tasty but would have been better a couple years ago. Slightly past its prime. From magnum.

2016 - every time I pop a chenin, I tell myself, you should have decanted that. But after a couple days corked in the fridge, this is showing all it's glorious colors. Nose of helium balloons, savory herbs, sweet lemon acidity. Everything in balance. The secret is out; Benoit Courault is 🔥.

Wonderfully reductive, paradoxically taking on a nutty cut. Nose of underripe pear. Iron, blood and layers of complexity on the palate. Gingerbread. Acid cuts across the tongue, midway down, from left to right. Tour de force and underrated. Get it while it’s hot.
