Time for #MerlotThursday 😃 here's a simple one from France.

Dark ruby in color with a purple rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, black cherries, black currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, earth, chocolates, dust, light vegetables, river rocks and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blueberries, cherries, plums, wood, herbs, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, leather, vegetables and black pepper.

Medium plus on the finish with fine tannins and tart raspberries.

This simple Merlot blend from France is enjoyable by itself or with food.

Not fully balanced, with a fruity mid palate and a tart finish. Very nice and soft mouthfeel, though. A nice $6 wine for every day.

Good right out of the bottle and gets very earthy (and loses its fruits) as it opens up, so drink it quickly...
Tannins come in after an hour of airtime.

I paired it with soft and hard cheeses.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

85 points.

$6.

Medium tannin back. Better once it's had a chance to air for 30 minutes. Dark berry nice acid. Would not buy again

Heavy on tannins. Not sweet. Full bodied, but light at the same time.

I can’t believe this was $6. Well-rounded Bordeaux with bright, deep fruit and leather. This is an absolute steal.
